Why are many whites now obsessed with bacon?

Not all white persons, however, I have noticed many white chefs preparing dishes cooked with, or adorned with bacon, or ,something resembling bacon(f.e., ice cream w/ bacon topping). I even saw a tie with a bacon print at Macy's This is a serious question. Is it a trend or phase of some kind?
