How do I find my biological father?

I know nothing about him really. Only his first name and that he lives in Russia (yeah doesn't that make it a lot harder). I heard about some DNA testing. The problem is I'm female and on a lot of websites it says that I can't test for the paternal line and I would have to have a brother or uncle do that for me (which I clearly can't do). Is there any way that I could DNA test for the paternal line? And if I can will you give me some websites? Oh and if your wondering if he'll be in the system, I'm pretty sure he will because he was in the military. Thanks for the help.
