Should I take Chemistry ver the summer?

Okay, so at my school, we have the option of taking Chemistry over the summer. This eliminates the stress of taking it over the year however, if you want to take AP Chemistry (which i do), then it might make it more difficult because they skip some stuff in the Chemistry class over the summer. I want to get it over with, but I dont want my grades in AP Chemistry to slack off because of it... what do I do? If you have recently been in high school and got into a good college please also describe what it takes and what you would do about by predicament...
